The Library building was constructed between 1898 and 1902. Built in the so-called Wilhelminian style, it combines Renaissance, Baroque, and Classicist forms. It consists of two wings: a representative front wing and a rear wing housing book storage and a courtyard. The monumental façade was designed in the style of palace buildings; inside, it houses, among other things, a stately staircase, a hall topped with a skylight, a historic catalog, and the atmospheric Humanities Reading Room. Some of the building's windows feature stained glass designed and created by Maria Powalisz-Bardońska.
