Cemeteries located on the southern slope of the Poznań Citadel Hill. The area is partly covered with forest and partly opened. There are cobbled and unmaid hardened roads. At the eastern end there is located the British Military Cemetery established in 1925. It is cemetery of British soldiers brought here from various places in Poland in the period 1918-1945. Another cemetery is the Polish Heroes’ Cemetery of victims who died in battles of the Citadel in 1945 and victims fighting for freedom in the period 1939-1956. There is also the Soviet Heroes’ Cemetery with 464 graves of 3678 people. In other cemeteries, there is a collective grave of 1333 French soldiers from the Napoleonic Wars, French-Prussian War of 1870-1871 and from the period of World War I.
