TVP Poznań is one of the most active branches of Telewizja Polska S.A. For years, it has remained one of the leading television centres transmitting nationwide the highest number of daily coverage reports of regional events.

TVP Poznań produces television programmes for all public television stations across Poland. It specializes in reportage and documentary films, as well as music, entertainment, theatre and history broadcasts. The most popular programmes produced by TVP Poznań - next to news programme "Teleskop" - include "Telekurier" (nationwide magazine of TVP INFO reporters), "Okiem reportera", "Medycyna i Ty", "Ewa i jej goście", "Przy jednym stole".

TVP Poznań produces programmes financed with European Union funds, including "Shot naukowy". Strong ties of TVP Poznań with the region have been manifested every day, for the last 55 years, by providing the inhabitants of Wielkopolska information about events in their place of residence. The effects of daily work of reporters of TVP Poznań are shown to viewers in the regional and Poznań editions of "Teleskop".

TVP Poznań supports social initiatives for the residents of Wielkopolska by providing its media patronage. In its programmes it promotes innovative solutions and examples of Wielkopolska entrepreneurship. The headquarters of TVP Poznań - the building, erected in 2003 at 8 Serafitek street, was designed specifically for the needs of the television to facilitate the process of production of television programmes. The ground floor of the building houses marketing and promotion offices. The centre is occupied by news editors and television studios. This is the place where "Teleskop" is broadcast every day and other studio programmes are produced. The first floor is a place which houses technical facilities. The production of television programmes, their editing and emissions take place here. The first floor also houses director office and rooms of editors of individual programmes. On the second floor there are the offices of the management, administrative and financial services, as well as a terrace. The building of TV Poznań stands on a two-hectare area where, in addition to the building, there are also workshops, warehouses and garages for technical cars. Broadcasting range and bandwidth - local programme of TVP Poznań can be received throughout Wielkopolska. Analogue transmitters and DVB-T transceivers enable receiving the signal of TVP Poznań by almost all the inhabitants of the region.

The first programme of TVP Poznań was broadcast on May 1, 1957. At that time, it could be viewed on just 100 receivers registered in the city. Initially, the station broadcast three times a week. All cultural, sports, news, feature and popular science programmes were created on the spot. However, those intended for the nationwide audience, due to lack of connections, were broadcast for the first two years from Łódź. Filmmakers, performers and all technical facilities were transported there by bus.

In 1959, the first, makeshift radio connection began operating, allowing to include the station in the nationwide television stations network and receive programmes from abroad. In 1966, TVP Poznań gained the ability to produce the programmes outside the studio. It was related to the fact that the first experimental broadcast van made in Poland came into use. In the 1960’s, 1970’s and 1980’s, using the knowledge and experience of professionals working in the station, TVP Poznań produced programmes known throughout the country. The viewers particularly remembered cultural, entertainment and popular science broadcasts as well as theatrical productions. The 1970’s marked three milestones for Poznań Television. In 1973, programmes began to be recorded on magnetic tape, the first sound camera was used at the station in 1977, and two years later the programmes began to be broadcast in colour.

In 1984, the station introduced the first U-matic camera. Thus, television departed from news production in film technology. In 1989, TVP Poznań switched to Betacam system. On January 1, 1994 Polish public television (TVP S.A.) was established, being now parent company of the Poznań branch. Half a year later, from the new headquarters specifically adapted to the needs of the television, TVP Poznań launched a day-long regional programme – PTV3. The 1990’s saw the modernization of production technology. TVP Poznań introduced digital editing, purchased satellite and microwave van, and it extended the transmission range.

In 2003, TVP Poznań moved to its own headquarters, built from the ground up, at Serafitek street. In 2006, the first digital reporter cameras were used recording in blue laser technology in Sony’s XDCAM system. Since 2009, TVP Poznań also produces programmes in HD technology. In 2010, TVP Poznań launched gradual transition from analogue to digital broadcasting, which was fully implemented in 2012.
